"I'm at the Library" responds to Google Latitude

You've seen the news, right? "Stalk your friends with new Google tool"

Good, creepy, who knows? But all the cool new phones have GPS now, and the cool new Google Latitude application can share your location with your friends and family. This all is great, but how about for those times when we'd all like location awareness to be a bit fuzzy?

Well, that's what "I'm at the Library" is all about, and we figured there is no better time than now to spread the word about our development progress.

Here's the mobile software that we are working on, with the latest and greatest tools of our age:

If at any time you would like your location to be "at the library" you
simply push the "5" key for 3 seconds, and your location will be
updated to the nearest library. When you are done "reading the paper"
push the "8" key for 3 seconds. That's it...a host of difficult life questions can now be avoided.

Subscribe to this blog to be on the list for the beta software version, available for testing when our paypal account has enough developer $$, or the government bailout check arrives, whichever comes first.

Need a little more explanation? Our development group is admittedly male-centric, 25-45, LA regional, some with hair, all able to appropriately place $1 bills...so we will be testing our primary use case:

1. Go to cash machine, withdraw $200 cash
2. Push "5" for 3 seconds
3. Go to 3388 S. Robertson Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90034... click here
for directions from the cash machine to desired location, compliments of Googlemaps (also available via cell phone with your Latitude service).

4. Set watch alarm for 2 hrs
5. If cash is depleted prior to alarm going off DO NOT USE CREDIT
CARD, leave immediately
6. Return to previous cash machine
7. Push "8" for 3 seconds
8. Manually post to Twitter with your phone, "I went to the library today to
read the paper and dropped my wallet on the way in. Some enterprising
person returned the wallet but kept the $200 it contained. God bless
whoever returned my wallet, but couldn't you have left me $20 for
lunch? " (note, we are working to automate appropriate mobile updates for twitter, facebook and myspace to support all activities "at the library")
